Srinagar: Army killed three militants in an encounter in Handwara on Sunday.
In an operation by 21 RR Bn, the army gunned down three militants in the Wadarbala forest area.
The army has also busted one militant outfit. The operation is still going on.
Meanwhile, two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles (AR) personnel in Chandel district of Manipur, official sources said on Sunday.
Assam Rifles personnel of 29th battalion, patrolling hilly Laibi area in the district, spotted two persons moving in a suspicious manner on Saturday.
When asked to stop, the militants who appeared to belong to a hill-based outfit, fired at the forces, sources said.
In the ensuing encounter two militants were killed.
One 9mm pistol, one magazine and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the spot, about 75 km south-east of here, sources said.
About 40 persons were killed in militancy-related incidents in Manipur this year.
