New Delhi: In a shocking incident in the capital, a girl was set ablaze by a man for allegedly turning down his wedding proposal. Three people have been arrested for allegedly pouring kerosene on this 20-year old girl near Bhalswa Dairy Area, in Delhi.
The trio was frustrated that the girl resisted their advances at her, said the Police. "He wanted me to marry him, I was refusing so he threatened me saying he will burn me and beat everyone in the house and he did that" said the twenty year old girl who has sustained severe burns in the incident.
The victim's brother said that one of the men was forcing his sister to elope with him and threatened to throw acid on her if she refused. "He was forcing my sister to elope and marry him, he texted my sister asking her to come and threatened that he would throw acid if she doesnt come" said the girl's brother. "I was beaten up so much that i fell", he added.
Police say that the girl's condition continues to remain critical after having sustained severe burns.
