TN BJP chief to go on fast from August 16

State BJP chief Pon Radhakrishan has decided to go on fast for three days from August 16 at Maraimalai Nagar near here demanding the extension of the Central government scholarship scheme for minority community students to those belonging to the Hindu community also.

The BJP has been agitating for the past three days to ensure the extension of the scholarship. In 2010, the State BJP leaders staged protests at all district headquarters in TN.  It had organised a public meeting at Meenambakkam in Jan 2011, during which party president Nitin Gadkari had spoken.
