KOCHI: The office-bearers of the Thrikkakkara Resident's Apex Council (TRAC), on Tuesday, ended the 24hour hunger strike.The strike was staged in protest against the local body's inefficiency in introducing a scientific method for the treatment of waste materials. The district administration promised the TRAC that a meeting would soon be convened which will be attended by Thrikkakkara municipal chairman and the TRAC office-bearers.Environmentalist C R Neelakantan gave lime juice to the officebearers and ended the hunger strike.Those who took part in the hunger strike included TRAC president T K Mohammed, general secretary M S Anilkumar, treasurer K M Thomas and secretary Salim Kunnumpuram. The members said the waste from Thrikkakkara should be treated at the Brahmapuram plant and the transportation of waste from Thrikkakkara to Brahmapuram should be made without causing any difficulty to the residents.
