Tremor near Mullaperiyar Dam

KOCHI: A mild tremor was felt near the Mullaperiyar dam in Idukki district in the wee hours of Monday. The tremor, measuring 2.1 on the Richter scale, had its epicentre at Uluppuni.  The tremor did not cause any damage to the dam, official sources told mediapersons. “But tremors closer to the dam site could be dangerous,” an official said. No damage was reported in the district.  This is the 33rd tremor reported in the past one year in Idukki district.
