TTD security guard brutally rapes 13-year-old

TIRUMALA: A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a security guard right behind the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Vigilance office at the busy Lepakshi circle in Tirumala late on Friday night. The incident came to light early on Saturday morning after the girl was foundcoming out of the vigilance office crying and bleeding profusely. Murugan, a police constable, and a few locals rushed her to the Ashwani Hospital where doctors confirmed that she had been raped brutally. The police and the TTD Vigilance officials immediately took the girl back to the vigilance office to nab the accused, identified as Dilli Babu (41). A “fall in” as it is called is conducted every morning for the vigilance guards. The police hoped to catch him there but Dilli Babu had fled by then. However, based on the information provided by sources in the Vigilance Department, the police finally nabbed him. According to sources, Dilli Babu smuggled a bottle of liquor, while coming to duty, on Friday night. He assaulted the girl in an inebriated condition at the barracks behind thevigilance office. The girl is said to be from Kanchipuram but the reasons for her arrival in Tirumala are not yet clear. The incident created a furore in Tirumala and responding immediately, the TTD suspended the guard and ordered a probe. TTD executive officer I Y R Krishna Rao announced an exgratia of `2 lakh for the girl.
