KOLLAM: Kollam first class Judicial Magistrate Court II has remanded the two accused, in connection with the murder of Sub-Inspector Rajasekharan Nair, on Friday. Magistrate P V Aneesh remanded the first accused, Ajith Kumar, the Assistant Sub-Inspector attached to the Kollam East Police Station and his accomplice Shaji alias Shajilal of Pullikkda Colony, for 14 days. Murder and destruction of evidence have been charged against both accused. Kollam East CI Abdul Raheem has investigated the case. Severe blows on the head and face of Rajasekharan Nair, a Sub-Inspector attached to the Armed Reserve Camp, Pathanamthitta, inflicted by the accused during a drunken brawl, led to the death. The deceased and the first accused were neighbours at the police quarters at Ashramam. Rajasekharan Nair had a party in the quarters of Ajith Kumar on Tuesday night. In the inebriated state, both the police officers were engaged in a brawl, which ultimately resulted in the gruesome murder of Rajasekharan. Both the police officers were under suspension for their drunken behaviours, dereliction of duty and unauthorised absence. The bail application for the accused will be considered on June 21. No progress in probeMeanwhile, Ramachandran, a native of Thiruvalla, the main accused in the Railway recruitment fraud who was arrested the other day, was produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody. The East CI, probing the case, said that as he was preoccupied with the SI’s murder case, there was not much progress on the probe into the recruitment fraud on Friday.
