KOCHI: Kochi police on Friday arrested two persons in connection with the seizure of fake lottery from Nedumbassery Airport last month. The accused, Anand Vaduveli and Cheruth Shasi alias Renjith, were taken into custody from Palarivattom. The two had been absconding since the incident. The two were handed over to Nedumbassery police after interrogating them at the Ernakulam North police station.Fake lottery tickets worth Rs 25 crore, seized from the Kochi International Airport at Nedumbassery, were one-digit lotteries used for gambling. Police had earlier arrested Pradeesh, 28, of Kathrikadavu, and Sajeesh, 28, of Pattanchery, Palakkad, in connection with the case. They were later released on bail. At present, the investigation is under the State Special Branch led by ADGP Sen Kumar.The arrest was made based on a secret information passed to Assistant Commissioner Sunil Jacob. The police officials said that the two were the key suspects in the case.
