UK military chief aims to set up cyber command
British officials have repeatedly spoken out about the threat of cyber warfare.

London: Britain's military chief says he wants to set up a UK version of America's Cyber Command, the Pentagon's newly formed cyber warfare division.

Gen David Richards was quoted in the Sunday Times as saying that cyber attacks were going to be a part of future warfare "just as tanks and aircraft are today," and that he wanted Britain to work on its offensive capabilities.

The paper said that Richards, the chief of Britain's defense staff, had just returned from visiting the US Cyber Command.

British officials have repeatedly spoken out about the threat of cyber warfare, and the government is investing an extra 650 million pounds (about $1 billion) in the country's electronic defenses.
