Undertrial escapes from court premises in Fatehpur

An undertrial on Tuesday escaped from court premises while being taken to lockup, police said in Fatehpur.

Faizan alias Anshu (25), who was arrested in connection with a loot incident in October 2009, was on Tuesday produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, inspector K K Yadav said.

He said Anshu escaped while he was being taken to the lockup in the court premises. The undertrial was being escorted by policeman Abhayraj Singh.

Police were on the lookout to arrest the absconder and directives have been issued for action against Singh, Yadav said.
