KOCHI: The district administration has submitted a project costing  Rs 12.50 crore to the road safety authority for the proposed skywalk project at Vyttila Junction. Though the project has been submitted, the construction works of the skywalk will commence only after the alignment of the Metro Rail is finalised, said District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth. Pareeth said that there are various factors which have to be taken into account while constructing the skywalk. “The height of the elevated Metro rail tracks will go up from 8 to 12 metres at the junctions. Besides, the construction of flyovers at Edappally, Pipeline Junction, Vyttila and Kundanoor are also under way. The skywalk will be at a height of 6 metres. Hence all these factors have to be considered while undertaking the project,” he said.   The Collector said the project would be implemented after holding discussions with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
