The 17-year-old hanged himself in the bedroom of his residence but before taking the extreme step, he penned down his last words.

In a shocking incident in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district, the son of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sheelwant Nandedkar, died by suicide after hanging himself from the ceiling fan early on Sunday morning. The 17-year-old, identified as Sahil, was DCP (Headquarters) Nandedkar’s only child. A case of sudden death has been registered at Vedant Nagar police station and the investigation is still on.

According to reports, Sahil hanged himself in the bedroom of his residence in Snehnagar area of the city. Before taking the extreme step, he penned down the words, “I have enjoyed life, I am not quitting but I want to restart, Love you both,” on the mirror of his room.

On Saturday, Sahil, a Class 12 student, celebrated Dussehra with his family enthusiastically, chatting with his parents till late at night, after which all went to bed.

The next day at 6 am, Sahil’s father Sheelwant Nandedkar woke up to go for a morning walk and before leaving, he knocked on Sahil’s door. However, the child did not respond to the call. After Nandedkar heard no sound coming from the inside, he looked through the bedroom window and was shocked to see his son hanging from the ceiling.
