West Bengal: Jadavpur University student molested in boys hostel

Jadavpur: A student of the renowned Jadavpur University in West Bengal has alleged molestation at the hands of a group of male students.

The victim, a second year History (Hons) student, has alleged that she was attacked by as many as 10 male students during a college festival on the evening of August 28. She said that she was dragged into the boys hostel where the accused allegedly molested her.

All the accused are students of the varsity's Arts faculty.

The student informed the college authorities about the incident and registered a complaint with the police. Police have started investigation under sections 354 (criminal assault on a woman to outrage her modesty) and 379 (theft) of the IPC against the accused. No arrests have been made so far.

The incident comes just days after a first year student from Sikkim was allegedly stripped and photographed by her seniors in the prestigious Visva-Bharati University.
