Mumbai: Guess, what the latest Bollywood buzz is all about!
Even as the film world and film buffs wait for a Diwali blast with the Farhan Akhtar remake of Don, Bollywood is abuzz with speculation about how the audience is going to react to the new don, Shah Rukh Khan, and Kareena Kapoor doing a Helen.
While SRK's avatar as Don has been the topic of much debate, Kareena's role has come under the scanner ever since the new adoption of Ye Mera Dil Pyar Ka Deewana made its debut on music television.
"Can Kareena match up to Helen?" That's the question everyone is asking after seeing her playing a seductress in this all-time hit number. Dressed in a jazzy golden outfit, Kareena does look ravishing in the number, but maybe the oomph element is missing somewhere. However, some say, it's not fair to pass a verdict based on the song alone. It all depends on how the chemistry works out between the two stars.
Ye Mera Dil Pyar Ka Deewana is, in fact, one of the two songs retained from the 1978 film. The original song was picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and Helen and was sung by Asha Bhosle, who won the Filmfare Award for the song. This time, it is being sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.
Helen was 40 then while Kareena is just 25. On her part, Kareena has gone on record saying that she can never match up to Helen as far as her dance number in Don is concerned. "It's great. I am nervous because I don't think I could ever match up to Helen aunty. What she has done is something else altogether and there is absolutely no comparison," she said.
But then comparisons will be inevitable - as much between Kareena and Helen as it will be between SRK and the Big B. The music for the remixed number is done Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy while it is being choreographed by Farah Khan.
