BANGALORE: Assuring that his government was sympathetic towards removing disparities in the salaries of PU college lecturers, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Thursday appealed to the agitating lecturers to resume work keeping in mind the interests of students.Making a statement on the issue during the Zero Hour in the legislative council, Gowda said that the government was aware of the problem and sincere efforts were being made to address them.He said the committee constituted by the government to find out means to implement 6th pay commission’s recommendations will also look into the issue. Till then, teachers should cooperate with the government, he added.Further, the CM said that the issue of salary disparities is not limited to the PU college lecturers. Even primary and high school teachers have a similar demand.“So, we need to examine the implications on employees of other departments and others working in the education department before addressing PU college lecturers’ demand,” the chief minister said.This assurance, however, failed to cut ice with JD(S) member Puttanna and independent member Maritibbegowda who demanded immediate relief to the agitating lecturers.
