Woman constable charred to death

BURLA: A woman constable, identified as Mamata Mirdha (28), posted at Jujumura police station in the district, has been charred to death while cooking at her quarter in Jujumura. Interestingly, her husband Upendra Kisan, an LIC agent,  sleeping in the adjoining room with their six-month-old baby, could not come to her rescue raising doubts on the entire incident. Reports said the woman was cooking on a kerosene stove. While trying to refill kerosene, her clothes caught fire and she was burnt to death.  Sambalpur SP Nikhil Kanodia and Additional SP Dilip Kumar Deo rushed to the house and shifted her to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla for autopsy.
