HYDERABAD: With the state government promising job opportunities galore for youth, many have decided to put their marriages on hold till they land a job.Taking it as once in a lifetime opportunity, youth are keeping their nuptials on hold in the hope that they get better marriage proposals and more dowry, once they land a government job.Speaking to Express, K Giribabu (26) from Nalgonda said there was a proposal since his childhood to marry his maternal uncle’s daughter.After he completed his MA in Economics from Osmania University last year, the two families decided to prepare for the marriage ceremony.However, now Giribabu has told his parents he wants to prepare for competitive exams first.Not stopping at that, Giribabu has advised his would-bewife, who is doing BSc, to prepare for a Group-IV job.“If both of us get government jobs, we can lead a better life and also provide better education for our children in the future as well as look after our parents,” Giribabu observed.Similarly, Gopagoni Bhagya (26) from Karimnagar, who has completed her MSc in Computer Science has postponed her marriage by a year, to prepare for the exams.Bhagya is concentrating on the post of assistant statistical officer, for which she has eligibility.As the competition is not severe for 397 posts, she hopes to land a job easily.As part of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s promise of issuing notifications for as many as 1.16 lakh government jobs, the government has issued notifications for more than 50,000 jobs already.
