Amavasya is one of the most important days in Sanatan Dharma. If Shani Jayanti falls on this day, its importance further increases and it is also called Jyeshtha Amavasya. Feed rotis prepared in tandoor to dogs on this day. The mantra ‘Om Hram Hanumate Rudraatmakaya Hram Phat Kapibhyo Namah’ should be chanted on this day. The time for shopping on this day is from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

According to astrologer Ruchi Kapoor, charity along with worship is given special importance on Shani Jayanti. On the day of Shani Jayanti, one should feed a black dog with bread smeared with mustard oil. Doing so will free one from Shani Dosh.
