The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) bulldozed an under-construction colony, named ‘New York City’ on Thursday. The colony was spread across 45 bigha land at Mauda village of Kakori on the city outskirts.
According to a TOI report, the colony was razed to the ground as the township was being developed without its layout approved by the LDA, said the agency’s zonal officer (zone 3) Devansh Trivedi.
He said that the LDA had warned the developers earlier but they began construction again, therefore, a demolition order was passed by an LDA court.
On Thursday, an LDA team led by assistant engineer YP Singh in the presence of police, bulldozed the under-construction colony.
The LDA also sealed an open-air restaurant in Viraj Khand for operating without permission. Five other illegal constructions across Alambagh, Kakori and Krishnanagar were also sealed.
