Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh, has filed to change her name. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has legally requested to drop “Pitt” from her surname, according to multiple international media reports. The teenager has made a request for a new legal name, i.e. “Shiloh Jolie.”
The documents were filed on Monday, May 27, which coincided with Shiloh’s 18th birthday. TMZ first reported the news. Jolie and Pitt share three biological children – including Shiloh and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox – as well as three adopted children, sons Maddox, 22, and Pax, 20, and daughter Zahara, 19. As per TMZ, Shiloh’s request for the name change is yet to be granted.
The strained relationship between the once-celebrated Hollywood couple has evidently affected their kids, prompting them to take steps to distance themselves from their father. Most recently, 15-year-old Vivienne made headlines for reportedly dropping ‘Pitt’ from her name. In the Playbill credits for The Outsiders, a Broadway play she assisted with earlier this year, her name appeared as Vivienne Jolie, according to reports from OK Magazine.
Despite these actions, there have also been reports that Brad Pitt is trying to maintain a good relationship with his children. According to a source in InTouch, Pitt has been meeting his kids regularly and making efforts to rebuild their relationship. However, the actions of his children, such as dropping his surname, suggest otherwise.
Vivienne is not the first to do so; her older sisters, Zahara and Shiloh, have also taken similar steps. Zahara introduced herself at a Spelman College sorority event without using Pitt as her surname, informed OK Magazine. Reportedly, Shiloh’s private Instagram account, as seen in a dance video tagged by choreographer Lil Kellaan Carter, shows her name as Shi Jolie.
Earlier this year, Angelina Jolie alleged, via lawyers in a new court filing, that Brad Pitt was abusive toward her prior to the 2016 plane incident. “At trial, Jolie will prove through testimony, emails, photographs, and other evidence why Pitt was so concerned about his own misconduct that he blew up his own deal to purchase Jolie’s interest in Miraval because she refused to agree to his new, expansive NDA,” the filing read.
