The 18th season of Bigg Boss started its journey yesterday. This season features popular personalities like Nyrra Banerjee, Muskan Bamne, Karan Veer Mehra, Avinash Mishra, Shilpa Shirodkar, Alice Kaushik, Shehzada Dham, Chahat Pandey, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, Rajat Dalal, Arfeen Khan, Sara Khan, Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, ‘Viral Bhabhi’ Hema Sharma, Eisha Singh, Chum Darang, and Shrutika Arjun. It is often said that these celebrities charge hefty amounts to take part in the popular show. Let us take a look at the highest-paid contestants in the history of Bigg Boss.
In the first season of Bigg Boss, Rahul Roy emerged as the winner and received a cash prize of Rs 1 crore. Ashutosh Kaushik won the season 2, receiving a prize of Rs 1 crore. Till the 5th season, the winners were awarded the among as the prize money but some changes were made from the 6th season onwards. The prize money was reduced to Rs 50 lakhs. From Season 11, the amount was further reduced.
Besides the cash prize, the organisers also offer hefty amounts to contestants to invite them to take part in the popular show. According to a report by DNA India, Canadian-American actress and model Pamela Anderson was reportedly paid Rs 2.5 crores for taking part in the show and staying in the house for just three days, making her one of the highest-paid contestants in the show’s history.
On the other hand, actress Rimi Sen appeared in Bigg Boss 9 and was reportedly paid Rs 2 crores. The report further stated that popular wrestler The Great Khali charged Rs 50 lakhs per week for his participation in the show. Famous Cricketer Sreesanth also reportedly received an amount of Rs 50 lakhs per week.
In the 16th season of the show, MC Stan became the winner. He reportedly earned around Rs 31.8 lakhs from the show. Last year, popular comedian Munawar Faruqui emerged victorious winning a cash prize of Rs 50 lakhs.
