Actress Banita Sandhu, who made her Bollywood debut with Shoojit Sircar’s ‘October’, took the internet by storm with her surprise appearance in Netflix’s popular series, Bridgerton Season 3, which dropped on the streaming platform recently. Banita debuted in the beloved series as Miss Malhotra. In her recent interview, Banita expressed that this stint would open more avenues for her in Bollywood.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, Banita shared, “Of course, it will open up different avenues for me in Bollywood. In India, I haven’t had that glamorous role yet. I have had great opportunities in India irrespective of what I do in the West. Moreover, I would genuinely love for my work in India should speak in the West because I am so proud of my Indian movies, especially October. The West is finally opening the eyes to International cinema. So, it should work the other way around too, like my work in India should open to opportunities in the West too.”
She added, “I want to broaden my horizons into different genres. I am shooting for G2 (PAN India film) right now which is again a huge action movie, so it will be different for the audience to see me in that kind of a role. I have done a lot of emotional dramas and I would also love to explore the comedic space. Many people have said that I have a comedic presence in real life. I recently watched Crew and I loved it, so I think something of that sort would be really cool to do for me next.”
Banita’s character Miss Malhotra brought a new and unique dynamic among eligible bachelors. Bridgerton season 3 is all about Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. The lead pair, played by Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, is at the centre of the historical romance series in season three, as they go from friends to lovers over the course of eight episodes.
Earlier, Banita made headlines for her rumoured romance with Canadian singer-rapper AP Dhillon after she starred in his music video ‘With You’. Banita also accompanied AP to a preview event of his docuseries, titled AP Dhillon: First Of A Kind. The actress had also shared a series of photos from that evening with AP on her Instagram account.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama last year, AP was asked if he and his mates were single. “We are married to the game,” the singer said with a laugh. When pressed further, AP shrugged, hinting that he was indeed single.
Banita Sandhu is a Welsh actor, who worked with Varun Dhawan in Shoojit Sircar’s 2018 film ‘October’. She also acted in Vicky Kaushal-starrer ‘Sardar Udham’.
