An old footage of Thalapathy Vijay talking about his favourite song has resurfaced.

Thalapathy Vijay is set to start a grand new chapter of his life as he embarks on his political career. His newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, will contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. With the actor’s focus shifting towards politics, he has stated that he will soon quit cinema after his upcoming film GOAT and Thalapathy 69. That does not mean that we will not see him on the big screen again. The trend of re-releasing old Tamil films is going on. Many of these are doing unexpectedly good business at the box office. In all probability, Thalapathy Vijay’s old films will keep re-releasing on big screens after the actor has quit acting.

When talking of re-release of Thalapathy Vijay’s films, the most recent movie of his which was re-released was 2004’s Ghilli. With steadfast fan support, Ghilli has achieved unprecedented success, emerging as reportedly the highest-grossing re-release film in India in the 21st century. Within just nine days of its re-release, it garnered approximately Rs 20 crore in the domestic market, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

While the film is clearly a fan favourite among the audiences, Ghilli is also special to Thalapathy Vijay himself. An old footage of Thalapathy Vijay talking about his favourite song has resurfaced, where he is seen interacting with a few students. On being asked about his favourite song, Thalapathy Vijay says that the track Arjunar Villu from the movie Ghilli is his favourite. He calls the song a complete mass track. The song depicts Thalapathy Vijay driving with Trisha at high speeds after bashing up a few goons. He called Arjunar Villu an energetic song and also added that whenever he is behind the wheels of a car, he tunes in to this song.

The first single from Vijay’s GOAT was unveiled on April 14, coinciding with the celebration of Tamil New Year. The song has been titled Whistle Podu, and Thalapathy Vijay has lent his voice to composer Yuvan Shankar Raja’s beats.
