Television actress Dalljiet Kaur has moved to Nairobi City court in Kenya against her estranged husband Nikhil Patel. Reportedly, the actress has received a stay order from the court to prevent Patel from evicting her and her son from their home in Kenya.
As per the document obtained by Hindustan Times, the legal notice against Patel was issued by Milimani Court in Nairobi City, Kenya on June 11, 2024. “Pending the hearing and final determination of this application, an injunction is hereby issued restraining the Respondent (Patel), his agents, employees and/or servants from evicting the Petitioner/Applicant (Kaur) and her child (Jaydon) and/or throwing out and/or whatsoever dealing with the personal effects and belongings of the Petitioner/Applicant in her matrimonial home (in Kenya),” the notice read.
Earlier this month, Nikhil also sent a legal notice to the actress and accused her of harassment. ETimes reported that Patel said, under the Indian Penal Code, The Information Technology Act of 2000 (India), and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012 (India), Dalljiet Kaur’s social media posts accusing him of an extra-marital affair were wrong.
Rumours of Dalljiet and Nikhil’s separation first made headlines in February this year i.e. after 10 months of their wedding. It all started after the actress left everyone shocked by deleting all her wedding pictures from her Instagram handle. Not just this, she also dropped “Patel” from her name. Later, she also accused Nikhil of an extramarital affair.
Nikhil confirmed their separation in May this year when he told E-Times, “In January this year, Dalljiet decided to leave Kenya with her son Jaydon and return to India, which ultimately led to our separation. We both realized that the foundation of our blended family wasn’t as strong as we had hoped, making it hard for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya. In March 2023, we held an Indian wedding ceremony in Mumbai. Though it held cultural significance, it was not legally binding. This ceremony was intended to reassure Dalljiet’s family about her move to Kenya.”
“Despite our efforts, Dalljiet found it challenging to adjust to life in Kenya, missing her career and life in India. The complexities of our family dynamics became increasingly apparent,” he added.
Dalljiet was recently in Kenya. However, the reason for her visit to the East African country isn’t known.
This was Dalljiet Kaur’s second marriage. She was previously married to Shalin Bhanot but the two parted ways in 2015 after she accused him of domestic violence.
