One of the most popular animated film franchises, Despicable Me is ready to mark its premiere in the theatres with its fourth part. The trailer of the much-anticipated fourth installment was dropped by the makers on January 29, piquing the interest of movie enthusiasts. Directed collaboratively by Patrick Delage and Chris Renaud, Despicable Me 4 will bring back its beloved characters of Gru, Lucy, their kids, and the Minions. Produced jointly under the banners of Universal and Illumination. Despicable Me 4 is slated to hit the big screens on July 3.
Despicable Me 4’s plot continues with the story of Gru, a former supervillain who turned a new leaf. Now, he is a happy family man trying to lead a peaceful life. While in the first film, Gru adopted three daughters, the second showed him falling in love with Lucy. The third segment introduced Gru’s long-lost twin brother Dru and in the upcoming fourth part, Gru and Lucy welcome a baby boy aka Gru Jr. The trailer opens with the yellow Minions chilling on a pool at Gru’s lavish home. Gru and his family are portrayed as be a blissful state, with no worries. However, their happiness is short-lived when an estate manager informs them, “Your family’s life is at stake."
Despicable Me 4’s new villain is Max Superball who has escaped from prison, wreaking havoc in the city. But, he is driven by a personal vendetta of taking revenge on Gru for something in the past. The estate manager transports Gru, his family, and the Minions to a safe house. Hence begins a series of adventures, hilarious escapades, funny fight sequences, and a riveting journey that promises to keep both children and adults hooked to their seats. Action sequences also play a major part in the film.
While Gru is voiced by Steve Carrell, other members who will be reprising their roles in Despicable Me 4 are Miranda Cosgrove, Kristen Wiig, Chris Renaud, Pierre Coffin, Dana Gaier, and Steve Coogan. Some new faces who will be lending their voice to the characters include Joey King, Sofia Vergara, Will Ferrell, Madison Polan, Stephen Colbert, and Chloe Fineman. The fourth part of the film series will be released seven years after the third in 2017.
