Dileep-Starrer Ratheesh Reghunandan's Thankamani To Release On This Date
Controversy has surrounded Thankamani since its trailer launch, with reports indicating that a petition was filed in the Kerala High Court seeking a change in the film's title.

Director Ratheesh Reghunandan is gearing up for the highly anticipated action-packed film Thankamani. Fans can now save the date, as the makers have officially revealed the worldwide release date for the movie- March 7. The released poster, depicting Dileep and Neeta Pillai’s characters riding a bicycle, hints at the period-based crime thriller’s atmosphere and tone.

Thankamani is a compelling narrative inspired by events that unfolded on October 21, 1986, in the village of Thankamany. The plot centres on a dispute surrounding a bus service, which escalates into a confrontation involving police baton charges and gunfire. Filmed across various locations including Erattupetta, Kanjirappally, Koottickal, Poonjar, Kuttikkanam, Peermade and Kattappana, the movie benefits from a visually stunning backdrop that enhances the storytelling.

William Francis leads the musical score, adding to the film’s atmospheric depth. The cinematography is managed by Manoj Pillai, and Shyam Sasidharan’s editing elevates the cinematic journey. The impressive cast comprises Dileep, Pranitha Subhash, Neeta Pillai, Manoj K Jayan, Sudeb Nair, Malavika Menon and other skilled actors in key roles, enhancing the overall narrative.

However, Dileep’s most recent film, Bandra received a lukewarm response at the box office. Despite mixed reviews, Dileep’s 2023 movie, Voice of Sathyanathan, enjoyed a successful run in cinemas, performing well financially.

Controversy has surrounded Thankamani since its trailer launch, with reports indicating that a petition was filed in the Kerala High Court seeking a change in the film’s title, tasking the censor board with handling the matter. Previously, Thankamani faced legal action from a resident who alleged that the teaser contained fabricated scenes. Now, new updates reveal that another petition has been lodged in the Kerala High Court, advocating for a change in the film’s title.

In response, the High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to make the final decision on the matter. The court emphasised that the censor board possesses the authority to render an appropriate verdict after viewing the film.
