GOAT Box Office Collections: Thalapathy Vijay Starrer Becomes Highest Tamil Grosser Of 2024

Thalapathy Vijay’s film Greatest of All Time (GOAT) has seen a significant boost in its box office earnings after a brief decline last week. Although it received mixed reviews on its opening day, September 5, the film has managed to rise above the critical reception. GOAT has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024, outpacing other major releases like Raayan, Maharaja and Indian 2. The film’s box office collections continued to perform strongly, with impressive numbers on its first Sunday.

So far, GOAT has amassed approximately Rs 137.2 crore within its first four days, according to Sacnilk. It is now set to touch the 150-crore mark domestically.

On Day 1 of its release, GOAT raked in Rs 44 crore across Indian theatres. However, the second day saw a slight dip in numbers by 42 per cent, bringing the collections to Rs 25.5 crore. Eventually, it was over the weekend that the film gained momentum and collected Rs 33.5 crore and Rs 34.2 crore, respectively, on Day 3 and Day 4. The film’s four-day collection stands at Rs 137.2 crore in India. While the Tamil version alone has brought in Rs 121.05 crore, the Hindi and Telugu versions have earned Rs 8.3 crore and Rs 7.85 crore, respectively.

Besides these domestic collections, GOAT has shown some really impressive figures, with a gross worldwide collection of Rs 126 crore on its opening day, according to a Moneycontrol report. In North America alone, it has grossed over $3 million.

With these numbers so far, eyes are not set on the first Monday after the release, which is expected to predict the film’s future trajectory in the following week. However, with no major releases until September, it is likely to have a free run.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, GOAT marks Thalapathy Vijay’s second last film before he shifts his focus to politics. The cast includes a star-studded ensemble of Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, and Yogi Babu, with cameo appearances by Trisha and Sivakarthikeyan as well. The film’s story follows Gandhi, a former leader of a Special Anti-Terrorism Squad, who reunites with his team to overcome a set of challenges and protect the country from terrorists.

GOAT is hailed as one of Vijay’s significant achievements; however, it is yet to surpass the box office success of his previous release, Leo.
