In traditional Indian culture, getting blessings from transgender people is considered to be auspicious; especially when it comes to weddings and having babies. Keeping in line with the tradition, Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa also received blessings from people of transgender community on the sets of Indian Idol 12. The couple was on stage to specially request contestant Nihal to sing them twosongs — Julie and Janu Meri Jaan. But the couple ended up receiving much more than just a serendipitous melody.
The transgender community present on set also blessed contestant Nihal. The episode was titled as India ki Farmaish (India’s requests) where the participants are supposed to sing songs the viewers have requested. Impressed by Nihal’s performance, the transgender people came on stage to extend support. They were so in love with his voice and performance that they blessed him to get whatever he wants in life.
Seeking the opportunity, Bharti disclosed how much she wants to have a daughter. She told them how she truly believes in the cultural tradition that whatever a transgender blesses, it becomes a reality. So, she requested the blessing of having a baby girl for her and her husband. The transgender community on stage obliged and wished she would be blessed with a daughter soon.
The couple is replacing former host Aditya Narayan, who recently got married. Bharti, who is popular for her comedic stints on The Kapil Sharma Show will likely bring her joyous energy to the sets of Indian Idol as well. The show is currently judged by Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himmesh Reshamiya.
Bharti shared the news of her new job on her Instagram page. This is not her first time on the sets of Indian Idol 12 as she formerly appeared on a Shaadi special (wedding special) and Valentine’s Day episodes as well.
But this time, she isn’t just a guest but the emcee managing the action. It should be fun to see the couple interact and banter on-stage.
