Janhvi Kapoor, getting ready for the premiere of her upcoming film Mr & Mrs Mahi alongside Rajkummar Rao, stands out as one of the most fashionably dressed actresses in the industry today. Despite receiving acclaim for her fashion sense, Janhvi openly embraces wearing rented clothes as part of her contribution towards sustainability.
During a recent interview on Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey, Janhvi disclosed that she frequently opts for rented outfits selected by her stylists. Describing the attire she had on during a recent show, she mentioned it was also ‘borrowed.’ “Whenever the stylists call for clothes, they’re mostly rented. The shoes and rings are mine but the necklace and bracelets are not mine. The shirt is also not mine. Bhaade ke hain!”” she shared openly.
The actor from the movie Dhadak explained that although the outfits and accessories are tailored specifically for her, they are returned after each public appearance. She mentioned that despite the customization, all the items have been rented. The entire ensemble is curated through rented clothing and accessories, “Of course, these are customised for me, but they’ve all been rented. This entire look is put together by renting clothes and accessories. In sabko lautana padta hai (We have to return them) Does that qualify as being sustainable?”, she added.
Meanwhile on the work front, Janhvi Kapoor is currently awaiting the release of her highly anticipated next Mr. And Mrs. Mahi. The actress will be essaying the role of a housewife as well as a cricketer in the film. The heartwarming trailer showcases Rajkummar Rao as Mahendra (Mahi), a former aspiring cricketer who now sees potential in Janhvi’s character, also named Mahi, a doctor. Encouraging her to pursue cricket, the trailer provides a captivating look into a story filled with dreams, ambitions, and the imperfectly perfect love story of Mahendra and Mahima that is sure to captivate audiences.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Janhvi had earlier revealed that she underwent a gruelling six months of intensive training in order to adapt to the mannerisms of a cricketer. The actress had said, “It was an exhaustive process of six months to get into the skin of the character and sync into the role.”
