Shahid who married Delhi-based Mira Rajput last year feels that getting married to a non-industry person is one of his best decisions
Shahid Kapoor brought the curtains down at the two-day Movie Mela organised by Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. The actor, who has been on a paternity break for 4 months now, welcomed his first child, a baby girl with wife Mira in August. Named Misha, the little baby girl has brought a new perspective and energy into her father's life.
"Misha keeps me active. She has completed our world. I've lived like a bachelor for all my life now it's good to come home to a family after a tiring day at the shoot."

Shahid who married Delhi-based Mira Rajput last year feels that getting married to a non-industry person is one of his best decisions, "It was necessary for me to find a person who was understanding, real and nice. Mira is an intelligent, opinionated girl who keeps me grounded. She brings normalcy to my life."

Shahid elaborates, "I make sure Mira goes through my scripts as her opinion matters to me. As actors we are very insecure and Mira is one person who would always wish the best for me with no hidden motives."
Shahid Kapoor, who is known for his unconventional roles in films like Kaminey, Haider and Udta Punjab, started out doing chocolate-boy roles but playing the conventional 'hero' never suits him. He says, "Conventional never works for me. People like to see me in different characters and I love to challenge myself with them."
Talking about changing times in Bollywood, Shahid elaborates, "Today, there is no difference between successful cinema and good cinema, if your film is good it will be successful, no matter what." That's why he feels the younger lot today can experiment with roles freely.
"I feel there is no 'image system' in Bollywood anymore. The younger lot of actors don't want to fit in any image and it's very interesting to break the mold every time."

Shahid Kapoor says he has had more wrongs in his career than rights and he should actually list down his movies for people to watch. Despite few bad films, he enjoys a massive fan following on social media. So does this make him image-conscious?
"I do check my social media post, every few hours and lovely messages from fans boost your morale during low times."
Shahid will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati. Talking about Bhansali's project he says, "I wish Padmavati could've come to me five years ago. The film is terrific with powerful characters written for Deepika, Ranveer and me. I think it's a never-to-be-missed opportunity and I'm really excited."
