When a fan asked Kareena Kapoor, "How are you so fab at everything?" Kareena Kapoor replied, "Mai Apni Favourite Hu."

If there is anyone who can play a happy-go-lucky diva perfectly then it is Kareena Kapoor. Her role as Geet in the romantic comedy Jab We Met has become a cult favourite since its release in 2007. One of the most popular dialogues from the film is “Mai Apni Favourite Hu”, meaning “I am my favourite”. This small but powerful dialogue has been adapted by cinema lovers as a slogan of self-love.

Recently, Kareena Kapoor indulged in a series of AMA-format Instagram Stories. When a fan asked her “How are you so fab at everything?” The multiple Filmfare-winning actor shared a still from Jab We Met in which her character Geet says, “Mai Apni Favourite Hu”. While sharing this still, Kareena sassily adds, “Don’t ever forget that.”

Over the years, Kareena has spoken multiple times about how Jab We Met changed her life’s trajectory in the least expected way. In a 2020, interview with Film Companion’s Anupama Chopra, Kareena said that she was approached by actor Shahid Kapoor to do Jab We Met even though the couple had broken up recently. However, Kareena took the advice and agreed to do Jab We Met.

She recalled, “In fact it was Shahid who actually said that I should hear this script of this film. He was like, ‘It’s amazing, the girl’s part is amazing and you should do it.’ He kind of actually got this entire project together and both of us ended up doing this film.”

Kareena was parallelly shooting Tashan alongside Jab We Met. She told Anupama Chopra that since Tashan was a big-budget film, she had hoped it would give her career a boost. For Tashan, she also worked hard to get the “size zero” figure. Incidentally, Jab We Met, which was made on a much smaller budget and was director Imtiaz Ali’s second film, went on to become a hit. On the other hand, Tashan tanked despite its A-list ensemble cast and directorship of Vijay Krishna Acharya, known films like Guru and the Dhoom franchise.

Talking about this unexpected turn of events, Kareena retrospectively said that she credits Jab We Met for reviving her career and thanks Tashan for introducing her to the love of her life, Saif Ali Khan. Kareena and Saif started dating in 2007 after meeting on the set of Tashan. They eventually got married in 2012, and now have two kids.
