Kartik Aaryan is gearing up for his next big release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which is set to hit theaters this Diwali. The film wrapped up shooting in August, making the festive release date quite ambitious. However, with the surge in popularity of horror-comedies, thanks to the success of Stree 2, which outperformed Fighter and Kalki 2898 AD as the biggest opener of 2024, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is well-positioned to capitalise on this trend. The film will feature Aaryan reprising his role as the ghost-whispering Rooh Baba, alongside Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit, and Vidya Balan, who is expected to return as the iconic Manjulika.
Aaryan, who was last seen in Chandu Champion, admits that transitioning from a disciplined sports set to the chaotic, ghost-filled world of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was initially disorienting. But he’s excited about the change of pace. “We just shot a game-changing VFX sequence that will make the audience shriek,” Aaryan revealed in a recent interview with GQ.
In addition to discussing his latest film, Aaryan also touched upon his journey in the Bollywood industry. Despite not being a film industry insider, Aaryan has carved out a successful career. He acknowledges that being an outsider can be challenging. “It’s harder to get opportunities or have your work recognized when you’re not from the industry, and that does affect you,” Aaryan shared. He explained that navigating Bollywood without any godfather meant learning everything from scratch, finding his own footing, and constantly fighting for equal treatment.
Reflecting on his journey, Aaryan said, “I’ve thought about how different my career would have looked had I received the same treatment as someone who’s always had a foot in the door. It’s taken a lot of introspection to realise that being an outsider is not a weakness. Everything I’ve done so far is a product of my own hard work.”
