Lakshya caught everyone’s attention with his debut in Karan Johar-Guneet Monga-produced Kill. However, the actor was originally supposed to debut in Karan’s Dostana 2, also starring Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. The film was shelved due to an alleged rift between Karan and Kartik. In a recent chat, Lakshya said he wasn’t given prior information about this and learnt the news on social media.
In a chat with Galatta India, Lakshya said, “I got to know on the day when it was announced officially. Before that, I had no idea what was going on. That too my friend saw some article on one of the pages he was following. He read it out loud and I was sitting at the other end of the couch an he said, ‘Bhai teri film… aisa kyu aa raha hai ki band ho gayi hai?’ Mujhe laga aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain bade bade sheron mein. Hogi baat, itna tavajjo dena nahi hai (Why does it say that your film has shut down? I thought such little things happen in big cities and I shouldn’t pay attention to such things.)”
Soon after, Lakshya got a call from director Collin D’Cunha. “He said come to the office, we want to talk to you. Then I knew it’s serious, sh*t has hit the fan, and things are going south now. I had a gut feeling that something was wrong,” he recalled. Lakshya said, “I reached the office. I saw their faces and I knew something was up. Karan sir said come let’s chat about what all has happened.”
The actor said that he had already shot for about 17 days when he was told that the film was being shut. However, there was no bad blood between Lakshya and the makers. In fact, the actor said that he felt supported. Lakshya was then supposed to debut in Bedhadak, which was also being produced by Dharma Productions. However, that film also got shelved. He finally debuted in Kill, alongside Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala. Lakshya’s performance was greatly appreciated by critics and audiences alike.
