In today’s world, many directors have created intriguing OTT web series that cover the surge in crime in Bihar. Almost many of them have been well received by the audience and critics. They have appreciated the cast, direction, and many other aspects of these web series. This space articulates the list of OTT dramas based on Bihar.
1. Maharani (May 28, 2021)
Maharani is one of the most successful web series based on Bihar’s politics. Subhash Kapoor has created this series starring Huma Qureshi, Sohum Shah, and others. Its third season will also be streaming soon on SONY LIV. Season 1 can be watched on Zee 5 as well. It seems to be inspired by what happened in Bihar in the 90s when Lalu Prasad Yadav made his homemaker wife Rabri Devi his successor.
2. Khakee: The Bihar Chapter (November 25, 2022)
Khakee: The Bihar Chapter is based on the book Bihar Diaries written by IPS officer Amit Lodha. Neeraj Pandey has created and written this series streaming on Netflix. Karan Tacker, Avinash Tiwary, and others have played key roles in this OTT drama.
3. Grahan (June 24, 2021)
Grahan series is based on the book Chaurasi penned by the author Chaurasi. Shailendra Jha has created this series starring Zoya Hussain, Wamiqa Gabbi, Pawan Malhotra, and others. This series is streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. This series gives an insight into the 1984 Sikh riots in Bokaro, Jharkhand. Earlier, Jharkhand was a part of Bihar.
4. Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega (January 10, 2020)
Soumendra Padhi’s Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega, revolves around criminals who specialise in phishing. Amit Sial, Sparsh Srivastav, Monika Panwar, and others played key roles in this series. Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega is streaming on Netflix. There have been two seasons of this series.
5. Mirzapur (November 16, 2018)
It is another riveting drama based on the rivalry of two families in Mirzapur, Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Despite being based in UP, the two seasons of this series also give an account of Bihar’s politics. Puneet Krishna and Karan Anshuman have created this series with Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyendu taking on the leading roles. It is streaming on Amazon Prime.
6. Rangbaaz: Darr Ki Rajneeti (June 29, 2022)
Navdeep Singh created Rangbaaz: Darr Ki Rajneeti, based on the life of the dreaded don Mohammad Shahabuddin. Vijay Maurya, Vineet Kumar Singh, Prashant Narayanan, and others played key roles in this series. Rangbaaz: Darr Ki Rajneeti is streaming on Zee 5.
