Manoj Bajpayee is one of the critically acclaimed Indian actors and is known for his versatile performances in many films of different genres. During a recent interaction with the YouTube channel Bollywood Bubble, Manoj recalled his early days in Bollywood.
The Satya actor said, “I got my first film while doing theatre, and that was Bandit Queen. I got paid something around Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000, and in Droh Kaal I had a small role because by the time I approached the film’s director Govind Nihalani, all the major roles were taken. Since I wanted to work with the director, I took up the small role and was paid Rs 2,000 for it."
Post his acting stint in these two films, he also got to play his iconic role of gangster Bhiku Mhatre in the film Satya. Manoj said that Satya’s filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was impressed with his acting and was searching for him to enact that role.
Manoj has touched the landmark of 100 films with his recent box-office outing to be titled Bhaiyya Ji. Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, Bhaiyya Ji will be released on the big screens on May 24. This film boasts an ensemble cast starring Vipin Sharma, Suvinder Vicky, Jatin Goswami and others.
Aurega Studios, Bhanushali Studios Limited and SSO Productions have backed this film. Manoj and Vipin have teamed up with director Apoorv earlier as well for the project Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. Hitz Music unveiled the trailer of this film on May 9 which generated massive social media buzz. As of now, the trailer has garnered more than 5 million views and counting.
The 55-year-old actor is enjoying marital bliss with his wife and former actress Shabana Raza. They got married in 2006 after dating each other for over eight years. The couple embraced parenthood in 2011 when they welcomed a baby girl in their lives, whom they named, Ava Nayla. Shabana now works as a film producer and guides her husband, Manoj, in deciding on scripts.
