In a recent interview, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui reflected on a period in his life when he was influenced to smoke marijuana by some individuals. The Gangs of Wasseypur star confessed to having tried it and expressed regret over those past choices during his conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia.
He expressed, “I had the company of some people, who would smoke up so even I ended up doing that. I realised later that… I don’t want to promote it, I have made mistakes but its benefit was that jo travelling milti thi usmein, bada maza aata tha (the high you’d get in that was a lot of fun). But I do not want to promote it at all, it was our mistake and I want to apologise for that.”
In the same interview, Nawazuddin Siddiqui also shared that he has consumed bhaang multiple times, particularly during Holi. He humorously recounted that under its influence, he felt like the “biggest actor in the world,” imagining the world as his stage and the people around him as his audience, “I would think people are my audience, and the world my stage. So, I would perform! I would sometimes be Ashwatthama, Karn, Krishna and perform for hours. Because you get into a loop, so I would perform from morning to night. Later when its effect would subside, people would tell me, ‘Paagal ho gaya kya hai tu? You have been repeating the same dialogue all day! I would go to parks, perform in buses, wherever,” he added with a laugh.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all set for his upcoming film, Rautu Ka Raaz, where he takes on the role of a cop. The movie is set in the picturesque village of Rautu Ki Beli in Uttarakhand and centers around a town that has not seen a murder in over fifteen years.
Joining him in the cast are Rajesh Kumar, Atul Tiwari, and Narayani Shastri in supporting roles. After its premiere at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year, the film is now scheduled for its OTT release on ZEE5 on June 28.
