Queen Of Tears Stuns Viewers With Outstanding Rating, Surpass Goblin’s Record
Queen of Tears has become the second highest rated drama in the history of tvN, surpassing the previous record set by Goblin in 2016.

The romantic drama Queen of Tears has taken the small screen by storm, as it surpassed all the expectations with its latest episode featuring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won. Audiences around the globe are hooked by the on screen chemistry of the lead actors and due to the gripping story, the K-drama has earned the impressive rating of 20.7%, according to Nielsen Korea data. With this rating, the show has now become the second highest rated drama in the history of tvN. The show surpassed the previous record set by Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun starrer Goblin in 2016, which had a rating of 20.5%. Crash Landing on You, featuring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, continues to hold the title of the highest rated series, as the show achieved a record breaking rating of 21.7% for the finale episode.

Meanwhile, other popular dramas such as Beauty and Mr Romantic, Hyde and Missing Crown Prince recorded ratings of 16.8%, 4.7% and 1.1% respectively. Queen of Tears explores the turbulent relationship between Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In, who are married for three years but their life is filled with conflicts. Only a few more episodes are set to air and it is expected that the show’s ratings will continue to rise.

In addition to being one of the highest rated shows, Queen of Tears has also maintained its position at the top of the charts for five consecutive weeks, as reported by the Good Data Corporation. Alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won starrer, other K-dramas that have managed to secure a spot on the list include Wonderful World featuring Che Eun Woo and Jeon Jong Seo’s Wedding Impossible.

During a press meet ahead of Queen of Tears’ launch, Kim Ji Won revealed what attracted her to work on the show. As per Outlook, she said, “I wanted to act out the life of Hong Hae-in, who appears cold but is lovable, looks strong but is delicate and is not simple. I got the thought that I could take on a new challenge through a role with a different vibe from the previous project. On first impression, Hong Hae-in is a cold and straightforward figure who appears to have lived a life without lacking anything.”

“Hae-in is used to running forward while only looking straight ahead and she is a figure who is unfamiliar with restoring relationships while taking care of her wounds, so Hae-in’s wounds and loneliness touched me greatly and I felt that it was unfortunate in some way,” Ji Won added.

Other than Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, Queen of Tears also stars Park Sung Hoon and Kwak Dong Yeon.
