Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani charmed their fans with their romantic wedding photos earlier this year. Despite being one of the loveliest couples in Bollywood, Jackky didn’t pop the question until just a few months before their wedding. In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, the actor-producer shared the story behind the proposal.
When asked how Jackky Bhagnani proposed, Rakul Preet Singh said she pushed him to propose, making it clear she wouldn’t marry him until he did. Despite wedding plans being in motion, Jackky hadn’t popped the question. “I said I need a story. I told him, you have to propose… you have 2-3 months left. No matter how you do it, you figure it out,” said Rakul.
Talking about the proposal, the actress shared that it took place during their joint bachelor’s party in December last year. Rakul and Jackky celebrated with their friends, totaling around 20-25 people, who all came together for the occasion. “But you know honestly, I had completely forgotten, and he actually managed to surprise me, I had no idea. Bhumi played a very important role. Because Bhumi (Pednekar) sort of orchestrated it. And I couldn’t guess. Bhumi is his best friend and obviously my friend as well now so she orchestrated the whole thing so I couldn’t tell,” she said.
Not long back, on being asked if anything changed between the two of them after getting the ‘married’ tag, Rakul said that they are happier. “When we were first dating- three years back- we had a conversation about this then only. I am happy, you are happy, neither of us are trying to fill any void. We are complete as individuals, together we are just happier. If you really follow this… I don’t have to call him 15 times a day ‘I am getting bored, how are you’ I have to figure what I have to do in my life, same for him. When we are together, we leave work behind. The biggest strength we share is we are best friends, there’s nothing we can’t share with each other,” said Rakul in a chat with HT.
Rakul Preet and Jackky Bhagnani’s wedding ceremony took place in Goa. The couple first got married with an Anand Karaj ceremony, honouring Rakul’s Sikh roots. It was followed by the Pheras in the evening to commemorate Jackky’s Sindhi heritage. Many celebrities including Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra, Varun Dhawan, his wife Natasha Dalal, Ananya Panday and Aditya Roy Kapur attended the wedding.
