Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed how Richa Chadha used her frustration to deliver a flawless dance performance in Heeramandi's Masoom Dil Hai Mera song.

Richa Chadha is basking in the popularity she has earned for her stellar performance in the Netflix series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Her role as Lajjo gained her positive feedback from viewers. Everything, from the regal clothes to her retro look, seemed on point, and the sheer emotions she showcased on screen resonated well with the audience. Moreover, Richa Chadha’s performance on Masoom Dil Hai Mera song was nothing short of dreamy. Recently, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali praised the actress for her unwavering dedication to delivering her best performance.

In an interview with India Today, Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed that he was not happy and initially felt Richa Chadha’s performance in Masoom Dil Hai Mera was not up to the mark. The filmmaker stated that Richa Chadha used her disappointment to deliver a flawless dance performance.

Richa Chadha was truly touched by the words of the celebrated filmmaker and expressed her gratitude. She shared the interview clip on her social media handle and wrote, “Sir said some nice things about me…thank you for these words. Thank you for the opportunity! Everyday I get so many DMs and compliments about that one single, round trolley shot…i bottled up my tears and used them in the take, and truly, thank you for whatever happened between us on that final day. A whole lot of love to you Mr Bhansali, and a big hug, artist to auteur.”

Earlier in an interview, while discussing her experience working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s set, Richa Chadha revealed that his sets are chaotic, with 100-150 people on average and when he enters, there’s an immediate hush. She told Instant Bollywood, “What I like about his set is that there is a lot of chaos but when he comes, there is a silent feeling like somebody is here and everybody gets to working. And he has a very high standard, so what I love about him is that he has such a high standard for himself that he will re-shoot something if he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t settle for sure.”

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar also starred Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shekhar Suman and Fardeen Khan among others. Recently, the makers announced that the series will be back with its second season.
