Salman Khan’s journey to fame is famous, but only his close friends recall his carefree younger days. In a recent interview, Aasif Sheikh shared a story about a drive with Salman, who casually drove on footpaths. When traffic cops stopped them for reckless driving, they didn’t recognise the superstar, creating a memorable moment.

Salman Khan’s industry friends and colleagues often share their memorable experiences with him. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, his old friend and former co-star Aasif Sheikh shared one such story. Aasif recalled that when they were younger, the Tiger Zinda Hai actor had a Maruti Esteem car, and they went for a drive together. During the drive, Aasif saw Salman driving on both the footpath and the road, which made him worried they might get pulled over by the traffic cops.

Recounting the incident which happened while they were shooting the 1998 film Bandhan, Aasif said, “Maine Kaha Salman, pakde jayenge (I told Salman we would get caught)”. But Salman Khan was not having any of it. He said, “Pakde jayenge toh yaar Salman Khan hain ghabrao mat.” (Even if we get caught, you are with Salman Khan, so don’t get worried.)

Aasif Sheikh’s worries came true when a traffic cop pulled them over. The surprising twist? The cop didn’t recognise the superstar at all! Aasif shared that Salman Khan was shocked and said, “Isne toh pehchana nahi.” Aasif even jokingly told Salman to take off his shirt, thinking it might jog the cop’s memory!

Meanwhile, in the wake of the murder of Baba Siddiqui, former Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader, Salman Khan’s security cover has been increased. Mumbai Police has now deployed an escort vehicle to follow the actor’s official car, with the Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF) stationed outside his Bandra and Panvel residences. The actor has been provided with Y-plus security, ensuring that a police escort vehicle travels alongside him, and a trained constable capable of handling all weapons now accompanies him at all times.

Salman Khan will be seen in AR Murugadoss’ upcoming film titled Sikandar.
