Shekhar Suman has slammed a media house for allegedly publishing “a false” report which claimed that his son, actor-singer Adhyayan Suman died by suicide. Shekhar, in a series of tweets, said that he would sue the channel, and called the incident “unpardonably irresponsible”.
The publication in question has reportedly issued an apology regarding the same, however, Shekhar insists that he will take “a strict” legal action against them.
“We are not relenting at all. The damage caused by them cannot be compensated for by a mere apology. We are going all the way as far as possible legally. We want this case to be an example for all those who put out highly damaging and defamatory news just for hits and TRPs. We want that they should think of how deeply damaging irresponsible reportage can be,” Shekhar told SpotboyE.
“When my wife Alka and I heard this we were numbed. Adhyayan was in Delhi and his phone was out of reach. We died a thousand deaths until we reached him. Just announcing to the world that my son has committed suicide… it’s absolutely unpardonable. You can imagine what my wife and I went through,” Shekhar added.
Shekhar Suman’s elder son Aayush died due to heart disease at the age of 11. Earlier talking about losing Aayush, Shekhar had told IANS, “This is one incident which has stayed in my mind for so long. For us, Aayush still lives… he is still with us. I have seen (my wife) Alka sacrifice her whole life to see him get better, and we all have, hence, lived thinking perhaps we could have done something more. But we can’t change our destiny.”
