Train To Busan Director Yeon Sang-ho Teams Up With Alfonso Cuaron For Next Film
Yeon Sang-ho gained international acclaim with his 2016 zombie thriller Train to Busan.

Yeon Sang-ho, the popular Korean director, known for his zombie thriller Train to Busan, is ready with another surprise. He is reportedly teaming up with the renowned Oscar-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron for a new Netflix thriller. Yeon Sang-ho will soon be directing a film adaptation of his popular Korean webtoon, Revelations. This adaptation also involves Alfonso Cuaron as the executive producer and consultant, informs The Hollywood Reporter (THR). The news of them teaming up has created quite a buzz in the film industry, as both directors have had a long history of giving us some thought-provoking and visually stunning films.

Yeon Sang-ho had previously grabbed global attention with his 2016 zombie thriller film Train to Busan. Since then, he has continued to impress audiences as well as critics with his work on Netflix including Jung_E, Kdrma series Hellbound and Parasyte: The Grey. Currently, Hellbound is also planning to bring a new season soon, reports THR.

As of now, Netflix has not revealed a lot of details about how Alfonso Cuaron is involved with the Revelations film adaptation. However, Yeon Sang-ho is excited about them working together. “Alfonso Cuarón, known for masterpieces like Children of Men and Gravity, has greatly influenced my work as a director. I am thrilled at this opportunity to collaborate with him on shaping Revelations, and I have high expectations for our partnership,” he told THR

Cuaron last directed the Oscar-nominated film Roma for Netflix and is reportedly working on another titled Disclaimer. The THR informs that it is going to be a psychological thriller miniseries starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline and will be produced by Apple TV+.

In Revelations, Yeon Sang-ho will work once again with screenwriter Choi Gyu-seok. The duo had previously worked together on Hellbound. As per THR, the upcoming film’s storyline deals with a missing person’s case. The narrative follows a pastor and a detective, each driven by their own convictions. Korean actor Ryu Jun-yeol, known for his roles in The 8 Show, The King and Alienoid, will play Min-chan, the pastor of a small church in a provincial town.

Meanwhile, actress Shin Hyun-been, known for her acting in Hospital Playlist and Reborn Rich, will play a detective, named Yeon-hee.
