Prime Video has announced the start of filming for its upcoming crime thriller, Matka King. Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Nagraj Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani under Roy Kapur Films, the series is directed by Nagraj Manjule and written by Abhay Koranne and Manjule. Currently in production, the series will be available to Prime members in over 240 countries and territories upon its release.
Starring Vijay Varma, Matka King is set in 1960s Mumbai and revolves around an enterprising cotton trader who introduces a new gambling game called ‘Matka’. This game gains popularity, breaking the barriers of class and making it accessible to everyone. The series also features an ensemble cast including Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles.
Vijay took to Instagram to share the poster wherein he sports a moustache and throws around a few cards. In no time, girlfriend Tamannaah Bhatia re-shared the poster and wrote, “Ufff”. She also added fire emojis.
Meanwhile, Vijay recently teased that the much-anticipated season 3 of Mirzapur would be released soon. While fans eagerly await the release date, Vijay Varma’s teaser on social media caught attention for another reason as well. Tamannaah Bhatia liked the actor’s post, a gesture that did not go unnoticed by their fans.
Vijay Varma shared a series of photos on his Instagram handle with the caption, “Mirzapur fans ki gaaliyaan kha ke bhi pose karne ka ghamand hai…” In the post, the actor looked dapper in a white shirt and beige trousers which he accessorised with bracelets, rings and a watch. Soon after Vijay shared the post, Tamannaah Bhatia reacted by liking his post. Fans were excited to see the actress’ reaction and took the opportunity to tease Vijay. One fan commented, “Unka like aa gya ji..” Vijay sportingly replied, “Bade tez ho guru.”
