Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor have broken up after several years of dating. Although Arjun and Malaika have not commented on the breakup, a report claims that they have parted ways. The report mentions that their ‘relationship has run its course.’ The couple went public with their relationship in 2019 and was subjected to intense trolling, especially due to their 12-year age difference.
Speaking to the Hindustan Times earlier about the intense trolling, he said, “It was hell for us for many days. She had to face so much because of the fact that we came out in the open, but I admire her for giving me and our relationship so much dignity. Standing by Malaika never felt like it’s something extraordinary. It felt just the right thing, the most natural thing to do.”
During an appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee with Karan, the filmmaker asked Arjun Kapoor how the severe trolling had affected him and Malaika. He said, “What is important to understand is that you will be affected. There is no person who is not being affected, it is about dealing with it. It also shows their (trolls’) upbringing and their culture.”
“Those people that are putting up random comments, you also know that they are trying to get your attention. So earlier, I used to get a bit worked up and wanted to respond all the time. Then I realised that I had to allow it to sink in, to understand the reason why these desperate people were trying to get my attention, and to detach myself from their reaction. Does it affect me? Yes it does… they (trolls) might be doing it to get likes,” he added.
Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor went public with their relationship in 2019, at the screening of India’s Most Wanted. They also went public with their relationship on social media. They often shared posts featuring each other. However, as per the latest reports, the two have now broken up.
“Malaika and Arjun had a very special relationship and both of them will continue to hold a special place in each other’s hearts. They have chosen to part ways and will maintain a dignified silence in this matter. They won’t allow anyone to drag and dissect their relationship,” a source told Pinkvilla.
“They had a long, loving, fruitful relationship that has unfortunately run its course now. That doesn’t mean there is any bad blood between them. They respect each other hugely and have been a pillar of strength for each other. Over the years, they have given their relationship a lot of respect. They will continue to give each other the same respect despite them deciding to part ways. Both of them were in a serious relationship for years, and they expect people to be gracious enough to give them space at this emotional time,” the insider added.
