When Kamal Haasan Worked As A Technician On Sets Of Amitabh Bachchan’s Sholay
Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan will share the screenspace in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD.

The much-awaited sci-fi thriller Kalki 2898 AD is scheduled for June 27 release. Ahead of the big day, the makers organised a grand promotional event for the film. The star-studded event was attended by producer C Aswani Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, director Nag Ashwin, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone among others. Following a tradition in the Telugu film industry, Big B handed the first-day first show ticket to his friend and co-star Kamal Haasan. Upon receiving the ticket from Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan was all excited and beamed with joy.

In a statement, Kamal Haasan also recalled the time when he worked as a technician on the sets of Sholay. The Tamil superstar said, “I wish this had happened four to five decades ago as I waited for three weeks to watch Sholay. I hope there are many more fans who must be waiting for weeks to see the film like I did for Sholay. I never thought I’ll get the first day first show ticket from Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician and now I’m an actor, and nothing much has changed."

Kamal Haasan also spoke about his character in Kalki 2898 AD. Revealing that he plays a “sage with bad thoughts" in the upcoming film, the actor added, that he wants to play an out-and-out bad guy. Speaking about the efforts that went behind his look in the sci-fi thriller, Haasan shared, “This get up took a lot of time. We traveled to LA, we failed a couple of times before we arrived on the acceptable look. So, it’s a collaboration, and I hope the audience will react the same way we did when we saw the first look."

ICYMI, the trailer of the Nag Ashwin directorial was released last week.

A futuristic take on the Mahabharat, the story is set in Kaashi, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character. What follows next after a prophecy reveals that he will be overthrown by a child forms the basic storyline of the film. Interestingly, the child is carried by Deepika Padukone’s character.
