Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up on dating two successful actresses in a podcast with Nikhil Kamath. He mentioned that dating these actresses became a big part of his public identity. That apart, Ranbir also addressed the accusations of cheating that have been directed at him, explaining how it impacted him personally and affected his parents. Amid this, an old interview of his late father, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has resurfaced in which he justified Ranbir dating four girls at the same time.
Speaking about Ranbir’s ‘Casanova’ image, Rishi Kapoor told Filmfare in 2013, “Even if he is, why not? He’s successful. Any girl would like to date him. Abhi nahi karega toh kab meri umar mein aake karega?” “He is seeing everyone because I keep seeing A, B, C and D in the house. But I don’t think that A knows about B and C knows about D. The staff knows and I know,” he added.
Meanwhile, opening up on his relationships, Ranbir told Nikhil, “When I started, I was always regarded as this playboy guy, who was just dating actresses. Let me tell you- I was in NYC for three years nine months – from 2000 to 2003. I didn’t date one girl. I was always an aashiq… So, I made myself believe that my first girlfriend in school when I left for New York, even though I was not with her, I made myself believe that she was the love of my life. And now it’s over, let’s just focus on work.”
“Of course, I dated two very successful actresses and that just became my identity. That he is a Casanova, I was labelled a cheater for a very large part of my life and I still am. I don’t care about it because it’s not entirely true. People don’t know the entire story and I would never speak about somebody like this in public because it’s very private thing. But, things were spoken about and if it makes that person happy, I don’t have any conflict with that person,” he added.
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s romance is one of Bollywood’s most talked-about relationships. While shooting for the 2008 film Bachna Ae Haseeno, they fell head over heels for each other. Deepika later accused him of cheating. She opened up about it on Koffee With Karan.
