Among the much anticipated projects announced by Gunn is Superman: Legacy, which has immense expectations from DC Studios after challenging years. Ever since David Corenswet stepped into the role of Clark Kent, fans have been eagerly waiting for more updates on this project. Recently, on Threads, James shared insights on Legacy’s pre-production progress, which is slated to begin from later this year. The filmmaker offered glimpses into cast details, release dates, costume details and more.
DC fans’ curiosity regarding the production of Legacy has been limitless, due to which many are constantly inquiring about the behind the scenes glimpses. Addressing one such inquiry, a fan inquired, “Can you share any updates on the Superman: Legacy production preparations?” To this, the filmmaker responded, “It’s going swimmingly. Sets being built, costumes being finished, actors studying roles, prosthetics and VFX models being made, flights booked. Here we go.”
While actors such as David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio and Maria Gabriela have been confirmed for roles in Superman: Legacy. James Gunn, responding to a fan’s inquiry about the percentage of actors finalised for the film, hinted that approximately 90% actors have been finalised to star in the film.
A fan asked James Gunn about revealing Superman’s suit and questioned why it is being kept a secret when everyone knows how it looks in the comics. To this, James humourously responded by asking, “Do you? Are there trunks or no trunks?” When another inquired about details of completion of the costumes, James replied that they would definitely be finished before they start shooting for the movie.
In a previous discussion about the film, producer Peter Safran, as reported by Comic Book, revealed that Superman: Legacy wouldn’t be an origin story. Instead, the movie would explore Superman’s struggle to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing on Earth.
In addition to Superman: Legacy, James Gunn and Peter Safran had earlier revealed their plans for upcoming DC movies and television shows. The announced lineup includes movies like The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing and The Authority, along with television series like Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and an animated series based on the Creature Commandos.
