Kangana Ranaut Defends Neena Gupta for Her 'Faltu' Feminism Statement, Says 'No One Is Equal'
Kangana Ranaut came forward to show her support to Neena Gupta after she shared her controversial take on feminism.

Kangana Ranaut backed Neena Gupta after the veteran actress’ interview about feminism went viral. For the unversed, Neena Gupta dubbed feminism ‘faltu’ and said that it is not necessary to believe in it. The statement raised eyebrows, with many criticising Neena. Days after the statement went viral, Kangana came forward to defend Neena. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kangana questioned the ‘extreme reaction’ towards Neena’s statement and said that she believes no one is equal.

“I don’t know why so much extreme reaction to what Neena ji said, man and woman can never be same, they are so evidently and obviously different on every level, are they equal? Forget man and woman, no one is equal each one of us is on a different level of evolution, that’s why we have Gods, gurus, seniors, parents or even bosses. Some have more experience or some are actually more evolved but we are not equal on any level,” Kangana said.

“Do we need a man? Of course, just how a man needs a woman, my mother’s life would have been miserable if she had to live alone all by herself without my father but my father won’t have a life at all without her, I don’t know what is whole shaming about!! Do men men have it better? Obviously they don’t bleed seven days a month and they do not exude divine feminine energy that everyone’s thirsty for, they want to steal, control or suppress it, boys are not unsafe every where even in their own houses or open streets, come on of course they have it better, it’s not easy for women, especially young women, please let’s stop pretending otherwise,” she added.

What Neena Gupta Said About Feminism?

Speaking with Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast, Neena said it is not necessary to believe in the idea of women and men are equal. “I want to say that it’s not necessary to believe in ‘faltu feminism’ (useless feminism) or the idea that ‘women are equal to men’. Instead, focus on achieving financial independence and giving attention to your work. If you’re a housewife, don’t look down on it; it’s an important role. Boost your self-esteem and avoid thinking of yourself as small. That’s the main message I want to convey. Additionally, men and women are not equal. The day men start getting pregnant, that day we will be equal.”

The statement caused a debate on social media.
