After an agonising wait, the trailer of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated film Animal was dropped by the makers on November 23. Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, the crime action flick features the actor in a never-before-seen avatar. He looks intense with a beefed-up body and long hair. Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, Anil Kapoor as Ranbir’s on-screen father Balbir Singh, and Bobby Deol as the antagonist have already piqued the excitement. With everyone talking about Animal’s trailer, Karan Johar also gave a shoutout to the upcoming film. Sharing Animal’s trailer on his Instagram stories, the filmmaker lauded the brilliant cast and crew of the film.
“What a mind-blowing trailer. This one’s going to break the box office. Beyond anyone’s expectations. Ranbir Kapoor, you are a sheer genius. Bharpoor stardom. Sandeep Vanga Reddy is a STAR. He is also brilliantly original. Can’t wait to see AK (Anil Kapoor) and Bobby Deol explode on-screen. What a WOW. Congratulations to Bhushan Kumar, the mega-producer," wrote Karan Johar, expressing his eagerness for Animal.
Judging from the trailer, Animal seems to be a story revolving around a complex father-son relationship between Anil Kapoor’s Balbir Singh and Ranbir Kapoor’s Arjun Singh. Arjun Singh is showcased to be a person whose obsessive love for his father drives him to the point where he is ready to do anything for him, including murdering people. Rashmika Mandanna as Geetanjali plays Arjun’s love interest who appears to be concerned about his menacing behaviour when someone tries to come in between him and his father. On the other hand, Bobby Deol in a negative role matches the film’s violent and rugged aesthetics perfectly.
After Shamshera, this will be the second time that Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in a high-octane action entertainer double the violence, gore, and bloodshed. While the masses are yet to find out the reason behind Arjun and Balbir Singh’s convoluted equation, there is no denying the fact with umpteen fight scenes, breathtaking action visuals, and a star-studded cast, Animal might match up to the expectations of the audience, bringing in the bucks at the ticket window.
While interacting with the media at Animal’s trailer launch event, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that the film can be called an “adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" where he plays “the most complex character". Animal will premiere on the big screens on December 1.
