In discussions for the upcoming drama The Price of Confession (literal title), Kim Ji-won is currently considering an offer to join the cast alongside Jeon Do-yeon. A media outlet reported on January 9 that she has received the offer and is in the process of finalising her schedule for the project. Kim Ji-won’s agency, HighZium Studio, acknowledged the offer, stating that The Price of Confession is among the projects she is considering. Kim Ji-won, the South Korean actress, garnered recognition for her performances in the television series The Heirs and Descendants of the Sun.
Subsequently, she transitioned into leading roles, showcasing her talent in productions such as Fight for My Way, Arthdal Chronicles, Lovestruck in the City, and My Liberation Notes.
The drama, which initially had Song Hye-kyo and Han So-hee in talks for lead roles, underwent changes when they departed from the series in May 2023.
Jeon Do-yeon then entered discussions to assume the lead role in this mystery thriller. Fans are expecting Yeon’s involvement will make the series even more interesting, keeping in mind her acting prowess. The South Korean actress has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Korean actress ever to win Best Actress at the 60th Cannes Film Festival. Her outstanding performance in Lee Chang-dong’s 2007 film Secret Sunshine also earned her the Best Performance by an Actress award at the 1st Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
Talking about the series she will be working in, The Price of Confession’s narrative focuses on the intricate details of a murder case involving two women, reports Soompi.
Originally set to be directed by Lee Eung-bok of Descendants of the Sun, the project faced a shift when he declined the offer due to scheduling conflicts in January 2023. The reins were subsequently handed over to director Lee Jung-hyo, known for his work on Crash Landing on You and Doona!
The anticipation for The Price of Confession began in 2022 when Song Hye Kyo and Han So Hee were initially revealed to be considering roles in the drama. Their collaboration sparked excitement when they shared an image related to the project on their Instagram Stories in March 2023. However, after extensive discussions, both actresses confirmed their departure from the project in May, leading to the ongoing talks with Kim Ji-won for a potential role in this intriguing thriller.
